Tour Description

In 2025 we are launching a new barge adventure with our partners Kris and Patsie on their ship the Johanna. The Johanna has been been reborn as a cruising vessel after a long stint as a transport barge. With their help we have created a once in a lifetime adventure along the waterways in the Champagne region of France.  

Route description

Day 1: Château-Thierry Welcome aboard. We are moored near “La Capitainerie, Av Jules Lefebvre”, about 1.5km walking distance from the train station. There is a direct connection from gare Paris de l’Est to ChateauThierry. Time to test the bikes and explore the neighbourhood. Dinner on board.

Day 2: Cruise from Château-Thierry to Dormans (silo quai) Dinner at local restaurant in Dormans (Alain Sutty)

Day 3: cruise from Dormans to Aÿ lock (near Epernay) Dinner at local restaurant in Aÿ (Rôtisserie Henri IV)

Day 4: cruise from Aÿ to Condé-sur-Marne (silo or marina) Dinner on board

Day 5: cruise up the many locks from Condé through tunnel of Billy-le-Grand to Sept-Saulx (silo quai). Dinner on board

Day 6: cruise from Sept-Saulx to Reims (below lock 10, Flechambault) Captain’s dinner on board.

Day 7: farewell after breakfast. We are moored below lock 10 Flechambault, Bd Dr Henri-Henrot. About 2,5 km walking distance from Reims train station. For the TGV train station Champagne-Ardenne, you better take a taxi (distance approx 6 km from our mooring.)

Price Includes

• All breakfasts, continental style, buffet (self-service).

• Packed lunch (to be made at breakfast) or lunch on board on request.

• 4 times 2-course dinner with drinks, taken on board.

• 2 times dinner in a local restaurant, standard set menu, drinks not included.

• Soft drinks, coffee, tea on board.

• Bed linen, towels, toiletries, hairdryer, air conditioning.

• Brewery/Vineyard tours when available

• Alcoholic drinks outside meals.

• Entrance fee for visits to museums.

• Transport to/from the ship.

Accomadations

• 3 double rooms, all with option of 1 double bed or 2 single beds.

• Ensuite bathroom.

• Living room with small fridge (drinks).

• WiFi (if we have a mobile connection).

• Sundeck with awning.

Participant Requirements

• Cycle the distance selected each day

• 18 years of age to drink beer
