Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Norway - Arrival day in Ålesund
Lodging at Thon Hotel Ålesund and diner at Mole Brew
With the Atlantic as its neighbor, you`ll find the Thon Hotel our lodging for the start of the trip. A short walk from the hotel we will find our first Brewery of the trip, Molo Brew.
Molo Brew is an award-winning brewery located in the heart of Ålesund. We brew everything on-site, inspired by the music we love! Our goal is to create world-class beer that pushes the boundaries of quality.
Day 2: Stage 1: Ålesund (Vestnes) to Håholem
- 80km with 800m elevation gain
After a hearty breakfast in Ålesund, we'll embark on a 1.5-hour drive to Vestnes, where we'll catch the ferry to Molde. From there, we'll begin our coastal ride toward the iconic Atlantic Road and the island of Håholmen.
This stage, which we affectionately call "Norwegian flat," offers no major challenges but features a gently rolling terrain, with the road dipping and rising throughout the journey. We'll ride along the breathtaking Atlantic Road, a winding masterpiece that connects small islands with dramatic bridges and stunning ocean views. Known as one of the world’s most scenic routes, it offers an unforgettable blend of nature and engineering.
At Håholmen Sea Cottages guests roam between the buildings here, just like they did in a living fishermen’s community in the olden days. It is very inspiring to experience the coastal culture and nature this way.
Get excited about the great dining experience, Håholmen is famous for exquisite food. The cooks use local ingredients and recipes and prepare the food from scratch. You will have diner in the Silver Bell Inn witch is not just a rustic venue, but a sturdy pier with rough-hewn furniture. Here, guests can sit at the long tables and enjoy an atmosphere steeped in history and tradition. The rough decor and authentic ambiance make the inn an ideal place for a simple lunch and pleasant moments on Håholmen.
Local beer tasting and diner at Håholmen, Silver Bell Pub
Day 3: stage 2: Håholmen to Angvik
- 80km with 1000m elevation gain
From Håholmen to Angvika, the renowned Atlantic Road sets the stage for our second ride. This architectural marvel features eight bridges linking scattered islands to the mainland. Against a sweeping backdrop of blue, green, and grey, the road twists and turns like a legendary sea serpent from Norse mythology.
Afterward, we’ll continue onto Route 666, a scenic path that follows the Kvernesfjord to Angvika.
This stage presents no major challenges but is filled with rolling terrain—a true example of "Norwegian flat"!
Angvik Gamle Handelssted is a hidden gem, beautifully nestled near Tingvoll Fjord in the Nordmøre region. Unwind at the spa, take a refreshing swim in the fjord, and prepare for an exceptional dining experience. Their five-course inspiration menu is served in the charming Bøkkerstua and includes a wine tasting.
After a day of cycling along stunning mountain roads, you’ll savor a hearty meal of local delicacies. With the soothing sound of waves and the gentle ocean breeze, you’ll soon find yourself drifting into a peaceful sleep.
Day 4: stage 3: Angvik to Andalsnes
- 85km with 800m elevation gain
After a good night’s rest, be sure to set off early on the next leg—you won’t want to miss a moment of daylight! From Angvika, Route 666 continues to Eresfjord, climbing over the Vistdalsheia plateau at 555 meters above sea level, before descending into the picturesque village of Åndalsnes.
Nestled between towering mountains and serene fjords, Åndalsnes serves as a hub for mountaineers and cyclists from around the globe, all drawn by the area’s wild, untamed beauty.
Our hotel is located at the foot of Romsdalseggen and the majestic Romsdalstinde. The history of the hotel goes back to 1890. Since then, the hotel has been through both fire, rebuilding and scattered renovations. In 1890, the hotel had approximately the same location as today and Åndalsnes mainly consisted of the farms Aandal and Nes.
For diner, we will take the cable car up to the top of Romsdalen, Eggen restaurant offer a beautiful view paired with delicious food. We use carefully selected high-quality, locally-sourced ingredients from the surrounding areas to create our tasty meals.
Day 5: stage 4: Andalsnes to Valldal
- 60km with 1000m elevation gain
From Åndalsnes you will complete a 60km ride on a famous biking road to reach Valldal on the other side of the mountain. One of the toughest climbs in the region awaits – but we promise the view at the top is worth it! The highest point of the Trollstigen road lies at 705 masl, and from the viewpoint you can see directly down on the masterfully structured hairpin bends making it possible to climb the steep mountainsides.
After completing the challenging climb, you can look forward to a mostly flat and downhill leg to the little village of Valldal.

Day 6: Kayaking in Valldal & stage 5: Valldal to Geiranger
- 40km with 800m elevation gain
Before a short but not less spectacular afernoon ride, let’s enjoy a relaxing kayaking experience to start up the day. With Valldal as your starting point, you can experience peace and quiet on Norddalsfjorden and in the UNESCO World Heritage fjord Tafjorden. Both are shielded from cruise traffic and large boats. Enjoy the unique nature with waterfalls thundering into the fjord, idyllic mountain pastures, and last, but not least an undiscovered fjord and our little secret.

It’s the perfect way to experience the flavors of the fjord while surrounded by breathtaking views.
Julie and Karl Mjelva bought Hotel Union Geiranger in 1899. The industrious family also established a car factory, a power plant and a cooker factory in the area. Hotel Union has been extended and restored a number of times. The great Union atmosphere, of quality and service across generations, continues with hosts Monja and Sindre Mjelva. They are the fourth generation of hotel hosts.
Visit and beer tasting at the local brewery “Geiranger Bryggeri”
Day 7 Stage 6: Geiranger to Ålesund
- 85km with 800m elevation gain
As you embark on the last leg of this epic journey: a biking road of 80 km of pure beauty awaits. The ferry takes you on the Geirangerfjord through some of the most breathtaking natural and cultural landscape Norway has to offer. Look for old farm hamlets clinging on to little patches of green high up in the mountainsides around you, and waterfalls cascading down into the deep fjord.
When the ferry reaches Hellesylt, next up is a landscape beautiful enough to impress a queen. Norangsdalen is known as the Queen´s Route, and the narrow valley is full of cultural memories that are yours to discover if you look closely. The Hjørundfjord has never truly been tamed by man, and several of the small communities that rest by the banks of the fjord are still only reachable by ferry. The jagged peaks of the Sunmøre Alps and the narrow valleys make this a retreat for adventure seekers and leisure travelers alike.
The lunch at Christian Gaard Bygdetun, a local farmyard located by the shoreline of Hjørundfjord in the village of Trandal won’t desapoined! We will need to take a shuttle boat to get their as this is the only way to visit them!
