Tour Description

Our Lost in the Trappist Triangle Belgian Gravel Route, connecting the renowned Rochefort, Orval, and Chimay Trappist breweries, offers cyclists a delightful journey through picturesque landscapes, rich history, and of course, exceptional beer. This cycling route takes us through the Wallonian and Northern French Countryside, on a memorable exploration of Trappist culture and brewing tradition.

Starting from Rochefort, we pedal through charming villages and rolling hills, immersing themselves in the tranquil ambiance of the Ardennes region. The Rochefort Trappist brewery, nestled within the Abbey of Notre-Dame de Saint-Rémy, is renowned for its distinctive ales brewed by Trappist monks using traditional methods dating back centuries. After sampling some of Rochefort's exquisite beers, we continue south towards Orval.

The Orval Abbey, with its fascinating ruins and tranquil grounds, provides a glimpse into the Trappist way of life. Here, cyclists can savor Orval's iconic Trappist ales, known for their complex flavors and unique character, while admiring the abbey's serene surroundings. Do you prefer your Orval fresh or aged?

The final leg of the journey takes us to Chimay. The Chimay Trappist brewery, situated within the Abbey of Scourmont, offers a warm welcome to weary travelers with its inviting atmosphere and world-class beers. Cyclists can indulge in Chimay's renowned brews, ranging from the rich and robust Chimay Blue to the crisp and refreshing Chimay White, before concluding their epic cycling adventure.

While “lost” in the Trappist Triangle, cyclists are treated to breathtaking scenery, cultural treasures, and of course, exceptional Trappist beer. Whether exploring ancient abbey ruins, meandering along winding country roads, or enjoying a refreshing pint at a traditional tavern, this cycling route promises an unforgettable journey through the heart of Trappist brewing tradition.
